**The following reports are supposed to be for ALL officers within Post 40. AMVETS, The Sons, The Ladies, & The Riders. PLEASE send in reports by SEPTEMBER 20th so that members may know what is going on and might be able to participate***
Another month has passed and all is looking well. Membership is growing slowly. We need new members, as we the members will not be around forever; need new blood to come in and eventually take things over. We do not need for AMVETS to die out; we need more voices for our representatives that go to Capital Hill to Lobby for all Veterans.
Membership dues are to be in before September 1st; as this date starts a new year. Renewal cards and key cards are here.
We had our open house on July 18th and did very well. Food, drinks, and signed up a few new members. When you get the time and feel safe, come on down and check us out. We would like to talk to you and get to know you better. As the old saying goes, we would rather talk to you than about you. Please go see if you can recruit at least one new member, or send them.
Thanks to Jerry Ray for his volunteering at the Salem VAMC. He puts in 60+ hours and 150+ miles every month. Volunteers Reports by Jerry Ray: VA Population is slowly rising to 50% and the clinics are seeing no more than four patients per day unless they need emergency care. Lots of patients are being rescheduled because of no face-to-face contact. Most are being scheduled for phone contact.
Post 40 Commander
The Ladies Auxiliary continues to grow with several new members.Thank you ladies for joining us. We are collecting items for the Rivermont School in southeast Roanoke. Drop donations at the post anytime. We are also collecting white socks & non-skid socks for the Veterans Hospital & will soon get a needs list from the Care Center. Will forward this list along when we receive it. The Crazy Paint Lady comes once a month with the kitchen open.. Will have a date for September soon.
The draw down was a great success.
Thank you to the Sons of Amvets for allowing us to share this event & to all who brought food or assisted with the event. We appreciate your being there.
We are planning a yard sale for September 19th. Start cleaning those closets. Can’t wait to see the treasurers you bring. $5 tables as usual with hotdogs and a bake sale.
Thank you all for your support of our Veterans & neighbors. We do make a difference. Next meeting is September 8 at 6:30. Hope to see you there.
First off, thank you to the riders who volunteered their time to move kitchen equipment for the floor to be installed. Very much appreciated.
The kitchen is up & running smoothly and bringing in donations to further our projects.
Our ride is August 30. Please participate, if possible. 100% of proceeds go to the Veterans Care Center. Not too late to drop off a door prize or two. We are so thankful to all who gather prizes to make this a fun event.
Dan Grayson keeps our Facebook page up to date with several charity rides upcoming. Please check the page or drop by the post for a cold beverage & see what events you would like to join in on.
We continue good vibes & prayers for those who are not able to ride due to sickness or injury. Big prayers to our brothers & sisters at Post 35 who just lost one of their own, Ronnie Elliott. Please be careful out and about. Ride safely but enjoy the ride.
